We created the color charts below when we were first making our CD covers for the CDs released by Shubhayan Entertainment in 2005. While making the CD covers we had to match colors and determine which colors would print the best and look the best on the web as well. We kept going back to the colors in Photoshop to determine the best RGB and Hexadecimal colors. Having the chart below and the conversion option made it much easier and accurate. We recently made some additional CDs, which were released during 2009 and used our colors charts again. We think visitors to the site may be able to use them for their benefit and therefore we are putting them here for your reference.

It has been determined that for different web browsers there are two hundred and sixteen (216) colors which are considered to be “web safe” colors. These are colors which are the same from browser to browser, or operating system to operating system, meaning they display in the same shade and tone and the variation in different browsers or operating systems is minimal or none. In an old 8-bit operating system there were a 256 possible colors but 40 of them were deemed to vary from browser to browser therefore the 216 “web safe” colors.

Colors are coded in RGB (Red, Green, Blue). Each color is represented by 3 sets of RGB numbers, these 3 sets of numbers reflect the RED, GREEN and BLUE contained within each color. These numbers can be represented as Hexadecimal color coding (six numbers) or RGB color coding (three sets of numbers, each ranging from one to three numbers up to a total of nine numbers). Each set of numbers reflects the amount of Red, Green and Blue that each color contains, the combination of these three basic colors creates all other colors.

For Hexadecimal coding, the first two numbers in a hexadecimal set of numbers represents the amount of Red contained by the color, the second set of two numbers represents the amount in Green contained by the color, and the third set of two numbers represents the amount in Blue contained by the color. The letters FF are used to reflect the most amount of color or 100% of color, so a color with the coding 00 FF 00 is the color Green with the greatest amount of Green possible. The Hexadecimal scale for colors is 0 3 6 9 C F, these six characters are used to represent colors: 0 is the darkest because it has the lowest percentage of color and F is the lightest because it has the highest percentage of color.

For RGB coding, the numbers go from 0 to 255 with the first set of numbers representing the amount of Red contained by the color, the second set of numbers represents the amount in Green contained by the color, and the third set of numbers represents the amount in Blue contained by the color. The number 255 is used to reflect the most amount of color or 100% of color, so a color with the coding 0, 255, 0 is the color Green with the greatest amount of Green possible. The RGB scale for colors is 0 to 255, with the values increasing by 1: 0 is the darkest because it has the lowest percentage of color and 255 is the lightest because it has the highest percentage of color.
